Since then, she has let her heart lead with passion to serve at-risk youth, trauma survivors, and a wide span of mental health occurrences. Her down-to-earth and genuine nature makes clients feel connected in an authentic, person-to-person experience. She and her husband, Jacob, met when they were both beginning their careers in social work, and have went on to create and co-own InnerSpace since then. In her free time, she enjoys listening to punk rock and hip-hop, digging into a good book, going to comedy shows, and finding the next big adventure.

Payton has an approach that is direct yet compassionate, making her a positive fit for more mild and severe issues alike. She and her husband, Caleb, have a one and one-half year-old son, River. Payton describes herself as "having the spirit of a grandma" since she loves to cross-stitch, read, and go to bed by 8:30.
